I've spent many, many hours creating captions for my videos. I'd always create them in Premiere, manually typing out the dialogue. I recently wondered how there could not be a better way, a faster, more efficient way to go about this. This is my in-depth exploration of what I learnt and how I have improved the process making as much use as possible of Artificial Intelligence to create SRT files.

Otter.ai and Descript are rival services and both offer a free account. These will let you test how accurate their automated transcription service is. And they will also let you trial creating SRT files.

To be very clear, I have no relationship or incentive to promote either Otter.ai or Descript. I just think they have plenty to offer.

I think I will sign up for Otter.ai's paid membership but before I do I will give Descript's automated transcription service a good test. You have 3 hours for free so why not make use of it?
