BATTERED ZX SPECTRUM 48K REPAIR PT2 | Can We Make It Look Like A New ZX Spectrum 48k?

In the second part of our ZX Spectrum 48K restoration project we turn our attention to the cosmetics of this poor little battered Speccy to see if we can make it look like a new, fresh out of the factory ZX Spectrum. We'll start by removing the tired old faceplate only to find a truly disgusting scene underneath, we'll remove the old rubber keymat before rebuilding our little ZX Spectrum 48K using a brand new keyboard membrane, rubber keymat and brand new faceplate.

And once done, you'll be amazed at just how good this little ZX spectrum 48K looks, it's not quite brand new but at the end of this project it doesn't look far off. And once that's all done I can finally sit back, relax and play some classic ZX Spectrum games on our freshly refurbished machine.

What started off as a neglected, tired, beaten up machine should now last for many more years :-)
