In this video I'll be taking a look at the new Martin SC-13E.

The SC-13E is a guitar that Martin launched in early 2020 which aimed to appeal to the electric guitar players who may be reluctant to take the plunge into the acoustic world. This has all the DNA of a Martin acoustic with some modern refinements to make it a fantastic transitional guitar for electric players.

Oh, and it even won NAMM 2020 Best in Show!

The offset body works well to reduce feedback for onstage performance and the slim taper neck makes playing all over a breeze. The real magic is in the Sure-align neck join which is an exclusive patent for Martin, and this is the only guitar you'll find it on, so far.

This is a dovetail style joint which holds the neck in place with two big bolts for a tight and stable connection. The neck heel is also massively carved away to allow upper fret access unlike any other acoustic guitar you'll see.

The guitar is loaded with a Fishman MXt Pickup system which is an under saddle system. There are some controls inside the soundhole to adjust the volume, tone (Which goes from flat to mid scoop) and a phase switch. There is also a built in soundhole tuner.

In the video I demo the sound two ways, first with a Lewitt Audio LCT 440 condenser mic placed 12 inches away and secondly with the Fishman pickup system directly into my DAW.
