or Bugs Kill RAID dead

The Linux Internal series continues with a look at three kinds of RAIDs: Firmware, Hardware and Software RAID. I will take a look back in time to discuss why RAID came to be, and what some of its pitfalls are. I also take a look at the different raid levels and even a couple of hybrid raids.

I personally think RAID in its current form is outdated, there are better technologies which are available now, that can scale up to the storage demands of even the largest organizations. For home users RAID is probably still viable. The only RAIDs I trust are hardware RAIDs and ZFS (yeah that includes TrueNAS). TrueScale I do not yet trust, but only because it is new.
