You are traveling through the province of Skyrim towards Markarth. The city has always fascinated you -- a modern settlement built on the ruins of a lost Dwemer metropolis. As a student of both Archeology and Anthropology at Imperial University in Cyrodiil, Markarth is like a dream come true. Unfortunately, Skyrim is a sizable province with very inhospitable and unpredictable weather. A snowstorm begins to arise during your journey, which means you must waste the last few hours of sunlight taking shelter from the storm. You hope that this does not mean you will have to spend yet another full day's travel before you reach Markarth's stone gates.

"The nearest town is Falkreath. They have an inn where we can stay the night for free -- the owner is an old friend of mine" says the guide that you paid to escort you through the wintry tundras of Tamriel's northernmost province. After a short detour into Falkreath, you stable your horse and enter the town's inn. The drinks are flowing and the fireplace keeps the cold at bay. You socialize for a while, and then retreat to your room. You can't stop thinking about the beautifully carved stone of Markarth; you aren't tired, so you decide to read the illustrated guide to the historic city that you brought with you in preparation of your eventual arrival. The sounds of the room and the music being played nearby relax you as you flip through the pages and wonder fills your eyes.
