00:00 - Intro
What's up you guys! In today's video, let's break down the current state of the car market. Let's go!

01:11 - What Are Impacting Prices?
Let's first talk about what is currently impacting the price of new and used vehicles. The thing is that whenever it comes to prices there isn't one singular cause or one singular event that has led us to see unprecedented increases across the board -- it really comes down to the last 2 years. The pandemic, inflation, shortages, semiconductor chips, the war in Ukraine, and more...the last 2 years has been a perfect storm for prices to go up.

01:11 - The Data
Now, let's look at the data, all data referenced in this video can be found in the links below:

07:44 - My Largest Concern
When it comes to car prices, all of these factors are no doubt a huge reason why prices have gone up...but I don't know that they are the reason why prices will STAY up. Car manufacturers have long had to compete with other car brands and one of the ways they did this was by keeping prices as low as possible. Over the last year though they have been able to raise their prices while citing factors out of their control as the reason. What if, even once all of these issues are a thing of the past, car manufacturers still keep their prices high? Because at the end of the day, if they are selling cars at a higher price - why would they lower them?
