New Jersey resident Jerome Johnson says Pasco County contractor Jason Wallace took more than $200,00

New Jersey resident Jerome Johnson says Pasco County contractor Jason Wallace took more than $200,000 to redo his house but left the job unfinished, with delays stretching 16 months. Johnson, who paid roughly $270,000 of a $330,000 contract, says his family lived in limbo for years, with his wife sleeping on an air mattress and asbestos bags left in the garage after Wallace ripped down portions of the home. 10 Investigates reviewed contracts, emails and receipts supporting Johnson’s claim and found other homeowners reporting similar experiences. In Pasco County, Wallace has been found guilty of unlicensed contracting and failing to obtain workers’ compensation insurance. In Hillsborough County, he faces multiple felony charges for stealing from a 65-year-old and related misdemeanors for unlicensed contracting; he has pleaded guilty and is due for sentencing next week. Johnson filed a complaint with New Jersey’s Division of Consumer Affairs; the agency had not responded.
