Driver Dead Following Severe Crash With Dumpster Truck

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 10-28-2023 | 5:00 AM
LOCATION: 35th Ave & Lower Buckeye Road
CITY: Phoenix
DETAILS: Phoenix Police and Phoenix Fire crews responded to reports of a vehicle collision just north of 35th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road around 5:00 AM.

Crews arrived to find a severe collision involving a large semi truck carrying a commercial roll off dumpster and a Jeep.
Several additional Fire Department resources responded to the scene after crews found a large amount of diesel fuel spewing from the involved semi.
Crews utilized shovels to dike nearby storm drains, preventing the diesel from seeping in.
The adult male driver of the semi refused medical attention.
The driver of the Jeep was pronounced deceased on scene and has not been identified.
According to Phoenix Police, 35th Avenue is expected to remain closed between Lower Buckeye Road and Durango Street for an estimated 6 hours as detectives investigate the incident.
