FRANCIS BACON

-The first english essayist an aminent philosophers statesman and a pioneer of modern scientific thoughts.

→he was only on the accession of James-I in 1603 that bacon's career bagen to prosper. Knighted that year he was appointed to a succession of posts culminating.
However Bacon's real interest lay in science so he published his ideas, initially in 'Novum organum 1620 an account of the correct method of acquiring natural knowledge.
He wrote serious and philosophie works in Latin & casual and tentative ones in English.
-He was lawyer, courtier. politician, philosopher and scientist but itis an essayist that he enjoys a glorious reputation.
+tHe was the first English prose writer ( results of his direct observations men and matters) which he recorded in his diary known as the common place book
-1618 he was appointed lord chancellor, the most powerful position in England.
-In 1621 he was created viseount St Albans
→He died in London on 9 April 1626.
To english literature his essays are priceless acquisitions. Legouis has rightty remarked, "These essays are the classies of English prose."
