Secret Weapons | Tracing Circles #86 1981 Inventions DRV
Low gain settings on the 1981 DRV are SO good. It just kind of cuts and boosts all the right frequencies for big, full cleans. Pairs beautifully with the Quiet Theory Prelude and Chase Bliss Gravitas, as evidenced here. It’s the kind of thing that rewards playing dynamics. I’ve been keeping my compressor set lower than usual since I got my DRV, because I love how easily you can move from clean to grit by just digging in a little more. Additionally, I just wanted an excuse to revisit the Gravitas. It’s so nice to FINALLY have a proper tremolo on my board; a subtlety I was missing for far too long. We’re playing a little more relaxed than we were yesterday. Regardless, I found that, over the weekend, the DRV really helps mold my tone to a band settings, and I think this is translating to how I write. I really feel like a lot of the things I have or will be posting this week could really benefit from a drummer. Its high time I make a record, I think. But for now, let’s just enjoy this.
