Timing belt change - 1kd Toyota Hilux

Gday and welcome to FOORD offroad
This is a video I have made on how to change the timing belt on a 1kd engine
This engine is found in the Toyota Hilux, Toyota Prado and Toyota how’ve vans from 2005-2015
The procedure is the same for all these vehicles however the van will be hard to get access to the belt.
Before removing the belt make sure the marks are lined up.
Make sure you get a kit with a hydraulic tensioner in it.
Make 100% sure the marks line back up when you put the new belt on.
Always turn the engine over by hand first before starting it, if it doesn’t turn by hand then the timing is out and the belt is installed wrong.
DO NOT turn the engine over with the timing belt removed.
The timing interval for these engines is 150000km
A timing belt change is not recommend if you don’t have mechanical knowledge. It is a very important part of the vehicle and needs to be done properly.
