What is House of History?
House of History is my little soapbox project. Politics, history, and cultural developments have been passions of mine since as long as I can remember. House of History is a platform where I will upload films every week, elaborating on topics ranging from military leaders during the Second World War to the political system of a city-state that existed over 2,500 years ago. There are five categories that my films will be divided in: history, politics, culture, biographies and miscellaneous.
The History category spans historical periods, events and biographies of fascinating historical figures. My favourite period in history is the 19th and 20th century: modern history. Germany and Russia are areas that currently have my undivided attention, hence a dominating presence of films surrounding these two countries (did you know Germany is ‘younger’ than Canada!?).
The political category spans a broad range of subjects, just like the History category. The democratic system of Ancient Athens, political theories such as realism and liberalism, or the difference in the common and civil law legal systems.
Culture, from Pushkin to Orwell to Seneca. I will write small essays on why I personally appreciate and am fond of works by certain authors. Russian writers (Lermontov, Pushkin, Solzhenitsyn, Bulgakov) are among my favourites, though this section will not be dominated merely by Russian writers! I have a lot of interesting content in store and cannot wait to start researching!
And lastly, the miscellaneous category. Created, just in case I get fascinated by a subject and want to make a film about it, but it does not fit in any of the previous categories. Could be anything.
Thank you for taking the time to check out House of History, I hope you will find the films informative, interesting and enjoyable!
This will be the trailer of my Youtube channel for a while. At least until I feel that I can create a better trailer. So probably a couple of months because my video editing skills still require training.
If you have any feedback, questions or criticism feel free to leave a comment. Your opinion truly aids me in improving the content of the channel! If you have a question, feel free to leave a comment and I will either write a reply, answer your question in a Q&A video, or make an entire film about it!
