4k Drone DJI Mavic 2 Pro - Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Tennessee

I had a gig in Los Angeles so I loaded up my newly-purchased Mavic 2 Pro and headed across the country shooting lots of footage there and back.

Music used with permission. All drone laws obeyed including staying out of National Parks. I flew over a couple of people but I had already spoken with them beforehand.

I wish I had spent more time with the drone before the trip but didn't get much of an opportunity to play. I could have pushed it much harder than I did but most of these places are not somewhere you want to go hunting for your drone.

The wind was extremely gusty once I got into UT (reported 60mph gusts) so I didn't shoot nearly what I wanted to in UT/AZ/CA. The return trip saw a lot of wind and clouds, too, but got some good stuff, especially at Sedona. I wish I could have shot much more there but most areas are off-limits to drones. Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee were almost completely rain days so nothing there till I got to the mountains in eastern TN where the leaves still looked nice. The other side (NC) had already lost most of the leaves and the wind was insane ahead of the front that was chasing me.

I highly recommend the drone. I only had one shot not turn out (must have hit the iphone to go to near-focus). Most shots were one-takes and I'd move on. My first launch was well over 10,000 above sea level and I flew in pretty heavy winds and at fairly long distances and it was almost 100% solid.

I shot H264 so there wasn't a lot of latitude to edit/color. You have to shoot H265 to shoot flat and that workflow is so new that this video might not have been released anytime soon. But it would have been nice to see what kind of coloring was possible. The edit is sequential as I shot.
