Transmastoid Repair of an Iatrogenic Meningocele

The patient had previous mastoidectomies in both ears. There is a neglected and infected cavity on the right side. In the left ear, previous mastoidectomy resulted in a defect in the sinodural angle region through which a sac of meningocele herniated in to the ear canal. After cul de sac closure of the ear canal with the modified Rambo flap technique; the herniated brain tissue was excised, the deftect was reconstructed with three layers (artificial dura, conceal cartilage and diced cartilage in deep temporals fascia).
