Did you know that before Patek Philippe there was Patek Czapek & Cie? Many probably aren't aware but Patek Czapek & Cie was founded in 1839 when François Czapek and Antoine Norbert de Patek, both Polish emigrants and survivors of an insurrection, had crossed paths. You're tuned into Episode 109 of Q&A Tuesday.

Patek Czapek & Cie partnership only lasted six years but throughout that period, some extraordinary watches had been created. Both Patek and Czapek went on to pursue other partnership opportunies after their split. In 1845, the name morphed once again to Patek & Cie until it became what we know it as it is today Patek Philippe (& Cie) in 1851.
Also on today's episode, we'll be talking about Aventi watches, how Luxury Bazaar is different from other luxury ecommere websites, watch metals and materials and more.

Stay tuned to hear my answers to the following questions:
⚙️ Have you ever had a situation in which keeping it real had a negative impact on a business relationship?
⚙️ My main collection is Rolex but I've started buying a few Tudors like the 58, Harrods Limited Edition and the GMT but just to put them into storage. Also never hurts to do more business with the AD. Where do you see the value of Tudor going and how do you see the parent company directing the brand?
⚙️ I've been seeing a lot about Aventi watches. I admire what they've achieved at a price given the sapphire and the movement but I'm interested to hear if you think they're a buy-right-now and if the brand has legs.
⚙️ I recently picked up my first luxury timepiece from an AD (116610LN) after delaying my gratification for nearly a decade and it's got me excited about the watch world again. I'm debating my next piece. Where does Luxury Bazaar fit in the secondary watch market? I frequent many forums and rarely see Luxury Bazaar mentioned. Normal recommendations include Bobs Watches, DavidSW, Watchbox and Swiss Watch Expo. Do online dealers tend to have a niche that they specialize in?
⚙️ What do you think about Czapek watches? What do you think about them and do you have any experiences with the brand, watches, quality, etc? As you know, Czapek used to be the first partner of Patek before Philippe. The brand went dormant for a few decades and got revived recently. Do you think these name revival brands have any staying power and do you think this one in particular will ever achieve Patek status?
⚙️ I recently purchased a brand new Brietling Avenger Hurricane 24 from an AD here in the UK, paying well below detail, over 30% off, lower even than the Chrono24 prices for the same watch used. Clearly not a popular model in this neck of the woods, even though the 24HR movement is my favorite. I have several versions, Navitimer Cosmonaute for example. As this watch is made from Britelite®️, a poly carbonate sort of ceramic, I wonder if this in part, is the reason for it's apparent unpopularity. With the likes of Richard Mille blazing a trail in the use of unconventional and non-traditional case materials, do you think that these more exotic materials will become more wide spread, or do you see the industry being very conservative in this regard? Collectors seeking comfort in the value of precious metals from which their watch is crafted, or is it just a matter of the new materials and production processes becoming more affordable and accessible within the industry?
💕 BIG THANKS to Bilal, Robert, Kiran, Taylor, Ermir and Baxter for their questions and comments!
