Gold Star Mothers and WWI - footnotes - Episode 37

Learn about Gold Star Mothers and WWI ancestors in an interview with Joyce Mitchell, genealogist with the Johnson County, Kansas, Genealogical Society. In this interview we discuss her award-winning article about the Gold Star Mothers pilgrimages overseas in the 1930s when mothers and widows visited their fallen heroes’ graves as well as my ancestor, Clifford Henley, who died in WWI during the infamous “Lost Battalion” battle in the Argonne Forest in France in 1918. More below...

Joyce Mitchell won 1st Place in the category 2 “Articles” from the International Society of Family History Writers and Editors in the 2018 competition.

This is part of the “footnotes” program on Genealogy TV, episode 37.
