Israel and Gaza have exchanged a barrage of overnight airstrikes a day after Hamas launched a shock incursion into Israel.

Israeli rockets set off fiery explosions and downed buildings in the Palestinian enclave.

Missiles were also fired from Gaza into Israel in the early hours, many of which Israel’s Iron Dome defence system intercepted.
