Terrifying 25: North Slide to Tripyramids, Whiteface & Passaconaway! White Mountains New Hampshire!

We met up with our friend Ryan to climb the North Slide to North Tripyramid, Middle Tripyramid and we traversed over to Whiteface and Passconaway finishing 4 new New Hampshire 48 high peaks! Ryan left his car at the end point so this traverse was possible. Otherwise I think it was about 10 miles in between trail heads and it was all uphill! North slide was probably one of my favorite ascents up any mountain. From the bottom of the slide you are at about 2400 feet of elevation. And then you climb up to about 4180 feet in a 1 mile stretch. In this stretch you climb 1200 feet in a single half mile. It’s pretty amazing and it’s extremely exhilarating and rewarding and it’s literally a real life playground. Make sure you have some energy in you because it burns up a lot of energy! The views from the slides were just breathtaking. Once you get to the top of the slide you enter the woods and have another quarter mile to the summit. The summit is mostly wooded with a small viewpoint. The trail over to middle and south Tripyramid are very mild and smooth terrain that you could move quick on if you wanted. Getting off South Tripyramid you go down very steep terrain. I believe it’s a section of south slide which is also on the terrifying 25. You go down a little bit and then you go left and go over The Sleepers. The terrain from the Sleepers over to Whiteface doesn’t look traveled often. A lot of overgrown grass and weeds covering the trail but the terrain is extremely smooth throughout the entire day and not many rocks. It was almost therapeutic for my feet! Whiteface has gorgeous views and beautiful Summit rock to sit on. You’re on a beautiful ridge walking over towards Passconaway with views to the right hand side! When you finally get near Passconaway The last quarter mile or so is pretty much straight up. Lots of rocks and scrambles. There are several lookout points on the summit and they are well worth checking out. The true summit is a little Carin on the top center of the mountain in the woods it’s like 100 feet off the main trail so make sure you don’t miss that little spur! Coming down and back to the car was insane steep for the 1st mile but then levels out and becomes extremely easy to walk on at an extremely fast pace if needed!
