Avenue of the Giants - A Timelapse Trip 7-10-15

Avenue of the Giants: A 31-Mile Timelapse Trip
A gliding, mesmerizing time-lapse (sped up) trip down the full 31 miles of the world-famous Avenue of the Giants, a corridor of towering Redwood trees that is home to the tallest trees on Earth.

In 6:34 minutes, from the north entrance of the Avenue at Jordan Road through to the south end at Hooker Creek, you’ll zip down the road beneath these amazing, giant trees. Along the way are noted the names of the places you slide through or by: Pepperwood, Holmes, Redcrest, High Rock, Honeydew, Founders Grove, Women’s Federation Grove, Weott, the December, 1964 High Water Mark at Weott, Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor Center, Myers Flat, Hidden Springs Campground, Miranda, and Phillipsville. Humboldt County, California.

It was an unusual overcast sky for July. I was waiting for overcast to minimize glare and contrast, and thought I'd have to wait until the Fall. Instead, July 10 was the day. Glad I was there. Normally along this route in July I would expect sun and 90ºF or more, particularly as we are in the midst of a record multi-year drought.

Pardon the windshield reflections in the first part; I pulled over and fixed them a little bit straight away. Video shot with an iPhone 6 using the app Hyperlapse. Edited in iMovie on Mac. Featuring two excellent new songs by my son Jerren Wilson, so put on your headphones, hit HD, and take a ride. He used the audio program Logic for Mac to compose and create the songs.
