How to Make a Free Minecraft Server using Aternos (Java or Bedrock Editions)
Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating a free Minecraft server using Aternos, without brackets or website mentions:
Step 1: Create an Aternos Account
Go to the Aternos homepage.
Click the "Play" button, usually at the bottom right.
You’ll see a login/signup page. Click "Sign up" to start.
Pick a username, agree to the terms and privacy policy, and click "Next".
Set a password. You can add an email for recovery, which is a good idea. Click "Sign up" to finish.
Or use a Google account to sign up faster.
Step 2: Set Up Your Server
After signing in, you’ll be on the dashboard. Click "Create a server".
Choose your server type:
Java Edition: For PC, Mac, or Linux players.
Bedrock Edition: For mobile, console, or Windows 10/11 players.
You can change this later if you want.
Customize your server:
Give it a name; this becomes part of the address.
Add a welcome message if you like, shown in the server list.
Click "Create" to set it up.
Step 3: Configure Server Settings
Once it’s ready, you’ll see the management page.
Adjust settings in the "Options" section:
Gamemode: Survival, Creative, Adventure, or Spectator.
Difficulty: Peaceful, Easy, Normal, or Hard.
Cracked: Turn this on to let players without a paid account join, Java only.
To pick a Minecraft version, for maps or mods:
Go to the "Software" or "Version" section.
Choose a type like Vanilla, Spigot, or Forge, and the version you want.
Click "Start" on the main page to launch it. It might take a minute or two, especially if busy.
Step 4: Join Your Server
When it’s green and says "Online", copy the server address, like yourserver.aternos.me.
Open Minecraft:
Java Edition: Go to "Multiplayer", then "Add Server" or "Direct Connection", paste the address, and hit "Join Server".
Bedrock Edition: Go to "Servers", then "Add Server", enter the address and port from Aternos, and connect.
Share the address with friends to let them join.
