This is part 10 of a series I started on building an antique-looking etching press from scratch. in this video, I do some tests using 3D printing parts to emboss some thin Aluminium sheets. I also start doing some experiments on paper using ink. I hope you enjoy going through the experimentation process with me. Please add some comments or even suggestions, I will consider and include your ideas in my future videos.
I am busy working on the plans and laser cut files that I will make available soon. If you are interested to also build your own etching press, or if you want to also use 3D printed parts in your existing press please add some comments in the comment section about your thoughts and findings.

I will have plans, as well as laser-cut files available at the end of the series for those who would like to build their own etching press. If you want to know more about etching presses and the processes involved in printmaking, be sure to check out these links:
Lithophane 2D to 3D software Link:
https://3dp.rocks/lithophane/
The software can not be downloaded, it is a real-time online version.

Remember to play around with the settings in the software. You can mirror the image, make it 2 -2,5 mm thick max thickness and you can make it positive or negative. Don't try to change the default size too much otherwise the program bombs out and you have to close and start over.
