This video shows that is possible to do some modifications to certain sewing machines to sew heavy upholstery materials without causing damage to their main mechanisms...anyways, we should not apply too much speed to the machine...the slower the better. As I already mentioned, it can be done 'just in case' we do not have the resources to start out the upholstery trade with an industrial walking foot sewing machine.
Most of the 'all metal' sewing machines are strong enough for these not so complicated changes.
