How to sync your PostHog data with your CRM and tools - CDP
Most teams run PostHog as a product analytics tool and stop there. It can do a lot more. In this walkthrough I show how to turn PostHog into a customer data platform (CDP) that unifies your web data, product data, and CRM data, then sends clean conversion events to Meta and your other ad platforms.
I use our own VisionLabs funnel as the example so you can see 100% of the data with nothing hidden. We map the full customer journey from a Meta or YouTube ad through the landing page, into the CRM, through every lead stage, and out to Meta via the Conversions API.
What's covered:
- Diagramming web and offline events before you build anything
- Capturing and persisting the Facebook click ID (fbc) on the person profile
- Why first touch vs last touch click IDs matter for attribution
- Unifying CRM and web events into one person profile in PostHog
- Server to server tracking with a reverse proxy instead of browser-only pixels
- Setting up the Meta Conversions destination in PostHog
- Optimizing ad campaigns for down funnel events like submit application, deal created, and trial to paid
- Firing events on lead actions so Meta optimizes for the right outcome
If your engineering and marketing teams are arguing over attribution, duplicate events, or where tracking should live, this is the setup that ends that fight.
