Modifying the Squier VM Mustang | Part 4: Shielding

Welcome to part 4 of my video series on modifying a Squier Vintage Modified Mustang.

Today I will be focusing on shielding the cavities of the mustang using double-sided conductive adhesive copper.

You can find this foil online, I purchased mine off eBay fairly cheap. You can also get the tape from some hardware and electronics stores.

The purpose of lining the cavities of the guitar and pick guard with this tape is to eliminate noise caused by electronic interference.

Stock, the VM mustang can be probe to noise from electrical interference owing to the fact that it is not effectively shielded and the electrical components are not of the highest quality (you can also expect a degree of noise simply because the single coils pickups are noisy by nature).

Therefore applying this tape can be an effective solution if you are finding the guitar too noisy!

Apart from the tape, I used scissors to cut the foil to shape, a sharp knife to trim the tape, a multimeter to measure conductivity, and also a soldering iron to desolder and resolder the wiring from the pickguard into the control cavity. You will also need your standard tools for removing screws and the pots/input jack.

I hope you find this video useful, thanks for watching!

As always, please remember to like and subscribe to help the channel out, thanks!
