Partnering for Peace in Sudan
The event will be webcast live from this page.
Please join us for a conversation with CSIS Director of the Africa Program, Judd Devermont, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, and Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the U.S., Nureldin Satti to discuss Sudan’s political transition and the role of the U.S. in supporting Sudan’s economic revival, peace process, and contributions to regional security.
In May 2021, Senator Chris Van Hollen visited Sudan, along with Senator Chris Coons, to assess the country’s progress since the popular uprising against dictator Omar al-Bashir in 2019. Senator Van Hollen will share his reflections on this trip and engage in a discussion with Sudanese Ambassador to the United States Nureldin Satti about the country’s current political, economic, and security challenges and identify opportunities for constructive U.S. support to the transition underway in this critical country.
This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
