Google Pixel 3 Review | Don't believe the hype

We review the Pixel 3 smartphone from Google, one of the most expensive Android mobiles of 2018 - but not the best. It's pleasingly compact and we like the stock Android Pie, but the Pixel 3's camera tech hasn't evolved enough from last year's Pixel 2, while the handset offers few USPs over more affordable blowers like the OnePlus 6T and Xiaomi Pocophone.

The Pixel 3's specs are solid enough, with a Snapdragon 845 chipset powering the show and reasonably good battery life. And that single-lens 12MP camera is still great in a range of conditions, although the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro still have it beat for night shots.

But I've experienced a few little issues with the Pixel in my three weeks with it, including Bluetooth connectivity problems, app crashes and more. And the Pixel 3 asking price is a little too steep considering you don't get the super-flexible camera of the Mate 20 Pro, or anything much you won't find on the OnePlus 6T 9 (especially as the call screening isn't available in the UK yet).
