Does Heavy Bleeding Always Need Uterus Removal? | Dr. Priyadatt Patel | Balaji Horizon

Heavy menstrual bleeding is a common problem, especially in the perimenopausal and menopausal age group.

But does every case require uterus removal surgery (TLH)?
The answer is no.

Heavy bleeding should be properly evaluated, especially if:
• Bleeding is severe with blood clots
• Pads need to be changed frequently
• Periods last more than 5 days
• Symptoms are becoming repetitive and progressively worse
• Hemoglobin levels are dropping
• Daily life is getting affected

Sometimes, heavy bleeding may also be associated with conditions like fibroids, adenomyosis, endometriosis, or changes inside the uterus cavity.

In selected cases, laparoscopic uterus removal (TLH) may be advised for better recovery and improved quality of life.

But every patient is different, and not all cases require surgery. Proper diagnosis and personalized treatment planning are very important.
