Come on YouTube what do you mean by reused content? I’m going to share with you the most important thing you can do in your videos so you don’t get hit with reused content. And we will talk about one type of content being hit hard being demonetized because of reused content. Hold that thought for a moment first let’s talk about some important key concepts.

Reused content. This is content that doesn’t provide significant original commentary or educational value. It may also mean that we’ve identified that large portions of your channel either completely match other content or are noticeably similar.

This is really important. Please keep in mind this monetization stuff is going through big changes at this time. Monetization has changed several times and will likely keep changing. Change is the only constant and we have to deal with it. I’ll do my best to relay updates and new information to you.

Here’s the post and it’s long because it contains a lot of details. At some point I strongly suggest you take the time to read the entire thing from beginning to end. Let’s focus on a few key points.
You have zero copyright strikes or content ID claims. Why am I removed for reused content?

This is important and confusing and frustrating for many creators. Copyright claims permission to use content is a completely separate situation. You having permission or not having permission a license or even feel what you are doing is fair use. This impacts your ability to upload a video. Completely separate issue from reused content.

Monetization is about advertisers spending money on ads. Advertisers companies spending ad money on YouTube rather than all the other possible places they spend their money. Monetization is about advertisers and videos being advertiser friendly.

Reused content that probably will not be eligible for monetization for the partner program an example is uploading videos made up of content originally created by someone else. Even if you stitch it together in a creative way. Think about it. Anyone can grab public domain or creative commons content and upload it. Content created by someone else being reused in a new video.

So what can you do? How can you do what you can so the videos you upload are not denied monetization because of reused content?

YouTube officially says content that doesn’t provide significant original commentary or educational value.
Stop there. The key point for me in the entire paragraph is original commentary.

And here it says the spirit of the Reused Content policy is to make sure we’re incentivizing unique and original content into YPP and that we’re protecting and rewarding the creators who work hard on original content.

And add commentary or show your presence in your videos voice or on screen.

Like me in this video. I’m on screen you see me in the video. And you also hear my voice. This is one of the most important metrics to determine original content. My opinion you want to have a real human voice and real human screen presence as soon as possible at the beginning of the video.

One thing I recommend not doing is comparing your channel to other channels. And it’s difficult not to do I get it. Focus on your channel. Focus on creating the best original content that you can with real human screen presence and real human voice content. Follow the best practices suggested here in this video. And keep in mind the rules and requirements are a moving target so you need to stay on top of things.

One area that creators feel is original content and it is being demonetized because of reused content is digitally created content. The video might have a digitally created image maybe moving or static. It has digitally created computer generated audio maybe music or voice. It could be quality content that takes time to craft on your computer. We are seeing many reports of being demonetized or denied monetization.

You want to have a real human voice and real human screen presence in the video and also as soon as possible at the beginning of the video. Monetization is about advertisers spending ad money on YouTube rather than all the other possible places they could be spending their money.
