Boeing 737: Horizontal stabilizer trim close-up

PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION FOR AN EXPLANATION!

In this video I will show you what it looks like when you trim the stabilizer on the Boeing 737 MAX. I show you the position of the stabilizer trim switch and the operation of the stabilizer trim switch on the control wheel, the cable drum and cables below the flightdeck floor and the movement of the stabilizer jackscrew, gimbal, AFT cable drum etc.

Why is the stabilizer trim system installed?:
The horizontal stabilizer controls the pitch trim of the airplane about the lateral axis. This means that if you want to fly at a certain positive or negative degree (nose up/nose down), you won't have to keep pulling or pushing the control collumn back/forward but you can trim the stabilizer and then you can keep the control column at the neutral position.
