Mystery Cheese Box | 23/04/2020

I can't believe it! This is now our fourth week of doing our mystery cheese boxes. The support has been outstanding, and you are helping the British cheese industry stand firm in this most challenging time.

Firstly, if you want your mystery box to, well, remain a mystery - don't watch the video and wait for your courier to arrive!

Secondly, as always, I briefly wanted to explain why I decided to do these videos. One of the challenges I face is that I usually curate cheese selections based on an individual's preferred flavour profile. However, in the current lockdown state, it's impossible for me to do so! To remedy this, I have put together a video walk-through of your mystery cheese box - I'm still relatively new at this, having only done it for a few weeks, so please take my presenting skills with a pinch of salt!

Each Tuesday, I go into our maturing room, and I turn, brush and taste our cheese. I then select the very best British cheese we have for these boxes. This week truly is a corker! These cheeses, in my opinion, are some of the best we've ever had. The cheddar may potentially be the best flavour profile I have ever had for that specific cheese! We also welcome our first-ever sheep's milk cheese to the box, which I know might be a new experience for some, but I am sure it will be a positive one for you all. The balance of the board this week is robust, full and not as challenging as other weeks.

I also wanted to invite you to a special event that is taking place between 8th- 10th May - the 'virtual' British Cheese Weekender festival! I've been asked to host a live segment, and I thought it'd be appropriate to celebrate the success of our mystery cheese boxes by having you, our lovely customers, vote on your favourites over the past weeks. Your votes and your votes alone will determine what is in our fifth Mystery Cheese Box! Over the next few days, you'll each receive an email to vote for your chosen cheeses. The results will be processed in secret, with the big reveal taking place during our live segment on the 9th of May. By tuning in, you'll be able to join in with my live tasting notes session.

As always, it's been has been a real pleasure to hear all your comments, pictures and reviews from all over the country. We had a new type of customer join our group this week, a delighted dog was given the last morsels of cheese remaining from someone's mystery cheese box.
