Benjamin Banneker: Geospatial Pioneer
The son of a freed slave, Benjamin Banneker was a self-taught scientist, mathematician and astronomer. Along with building a wooden clock that kept precise time and writing a series of popular almanacs, Banneker also helped map the borders of Washington, D.C. His contributions to mapping and geospatial intelligence continue to inspire intelligence professionals to this day.
