Joe Biden will become the 46th President of the United States. But what might that mean for the UK and, crucially, Brexit?

When the referendum results were announced in 2016, Donald Trump hailed it as "a great thing", whereas Joe Biden, who was receiving an honorary doctorate from Trinity college in Dublin at the time, said "we'd have preferred a different outcome". That being said, as a pragmatist Mr Biden could seek to strengthen relations with the UK as it stands rather than as he might wish them to be, according to Charles Kupchan, Professor of International Affairs, Georgetown University.
