La Passacaglia è una danza popolare d'origine spagnola e in voga alla corte di Luigi XIV. È probabile che il termine "passacaglia" derivi da “passare per la strada” (pasar por la calle), musica di musicisti girovaghi per danze forse licenziose, in tre tempi, che ritorna circolare su se stessa come il valzer; la ripetizione  favorisce le improvvisazioni degli esecutori.
Halvorsen fu un celebre violinista norvegese, direttore d'orchestra e compositore che oggi è ricordato principalmente per la sua brillante "estrapolazione" della passacaglia di Händel.

La citazione nel video è di Isadora Duncan, Americana (1877-1927), è stata una pioniera della danza e ha sviluppato uno stile così naturale che molti critici credevano che la sua danza fosse improvvisazione. Ha usato movimenti "onde" e forme circolari durante la sua danza per dimostrare la sua filosofia secondo cui il movimento proviene dall'interno, come i raggi emanati dal sole.

The Passacaglia is a popular spanish dance in vogue at Louis XIV's court. It's probable that the term "passacaglia" derives from "passing through the street" (pasar por la calle), music by wandering musicians for perhaps licentious dances, in three strokes, which returns to circulate on itself like the waltz; the repetition favors the improvisations of the performers.
Halvorsen was a celebrated violinist, conductor and composer who is remembered today primarily for his brilliant "extrapolation" of Handel's passacaglia.

Isadora Duncan (1877-1927) was an american pioneer of dance developed a style so natural that many critics believed that her dance was improvisation. She used “wave” motions and circular forms throughout her dance to demonstrate her philosophy that movement comes from within, like rays emanating from the sun.
