Can Orthotics fix Flat Feet

The question I get the most is, "I have orthotics..." Orthotics seem to be prescribe for every single person with "Flat Feet" but I have never heard of a success story after long term use.. Why is that? Are orthopedists prescribing orthotics for fixing flat feet based on evidence? or are they only doing it fatten their pockets?

Orthopedists also believe that conventional shoe design is anatomically correct and that we are to blame for flat feet, bunions and other foot maladys.
This discussion is to explain the efficacy of orthotics treating flat feet.
