Circa 1991. Pulled from the AOPA Air Safety Institute archives, this VHS introduces pilots to the challenges of mountain flying and offers ways to minimize the associated risks. Mountain flying can be an exhilarating experience. It also demands special skills. Factors that increase risk even in flatland flying, like density altitude, night, weather, and wind, can turn a normal mountain flight into a dangerous trip. Mountain flying is best learned through flight training from an experienced mountain flying instructor and hands-on practice.
