American Faith Leader Travels to Seoul to Advocate for Dr. Hak Ja Han's Release
Dr. Madeline Clarke Alexander, a faith leader from Indianapolis, Indiana, traveled to Seoul, South Korea, to advocate for the release of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the 82-year-old religious leader detained at Seoul Detention Center.
Alexander, introduced to the movement in 2003 and first meeting Dr. Han in 2019 through the Korean Christian Leadership Conference (KCLC), describes the experience as having "a phenomenal effect" on her life. She calls herself "the only begotten granddaughter," explaining that her spiritual parents are Dr. Han's followers who represent spiritual parents to her.
Her message in Seoul focused not on theological arguments but on society's responsibility to respect religious freedom. "We have a responsibility to receive each other where we are, how we live, with honor and with due respect," she stated.
Alexander emphasized that this respect extends in all directions—honoring those who believe and those who choose not to. "We have the blessing of free will to exercise our gift in whatever manner that we choose," she said. "The bottom line is to respect a person and their boundaries and move forward in all things good."
When international faith leaders travel across the world to advocate for a detained religious figure, does their presence signal growing global concern—or simply solidarity within a community?
