The Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Gallagher, met with the Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Holy See. During the meeting, reference was made to the “unpleasant incident” that occurred on Palm Sunday, when access was restricted to the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pizzaballa, and the Custos of the Holy Land, Father Francesco Ielpo. In this context, regret was expressed over the incident, and appropriate explanations were provided. The meeting also provided an opportunity to reaffirm the agreement reached between the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the relevant local authorities regarding the participation of the faithful and representatives of ecclesial communities in the liturgical celebrations of the Holy Triduum at the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
