Nigerian demand police reforms - Charly Boy + Abdulrahman Yakubu

Vigorous protests have broken out across Nigeria and in Nigerian diaspora communities around the world against rogue police officers accused of brutalising many Nigerians. Many are not satisfied with the government saying it's going to disband the infamous police anti-robbery unit known as SARS and President Buhari's speech promising extensive reforms has done little to placate angry young Nigerians, who have been blocking major routes in cities and towns across the country. At least ten people are reported to have been killed and many have sustained injuries in a week of demonstrations, including Arise news camera operators. So what will it take to calm things down? We'll speak to the maverick entertainer Charley Boy, who's become an inspiration to millions of Nigeria's youths...We'll also be joined by one of the organisers of today's protests and by a director at the Nigerian human rights commission

The maverick entertainer, political activist, social critic and mass mobiliser #CharlyBoy and the director of the civil and political rights department at the Nigerian Human Rights Commission, #AbdulrahmanYakubu were interviewed by #CharlesAniagolu. Produced by #NissiGabriel.
