It is important to understand how tomato roots grow and establish. Any mulch is wonderful for moisture management but grass clippings are free and provide nutrients to plants, soil life, food to worms, and they condition soil. My two tips for success is more frequent watering and grass mulch. Nothing fancy, practically free, and the keys to great tomato plants.
