Ingredients for Black Forest Cake:-
Sugar: ½ cup
Curd: 200ml
Baking powder: 1 tsp
Baking soda: ½ tsp
Butter for greasing
Maida: 1 cup + 1 tbsp.
Coco powder: 2 tbsp.
Oil: 3 tbsp.
Vanilla essence: 1 tbsp.
Milk for consistency
Ingredients for Cake Icing:-
Dark chocolate Flakes
Cream: 400ml
Frosted cherries Wafer Biscuits and mint leaves for dressing
Baking process
- Take 1/2 cup sugar (100ml measuring cup)
- Grind the sugar in a mixer jar before using
- Transfer the powdered sugar into a bowl
- Take 1 cup curd (200ml)
- Remove 1 tbsp. curd from the cup and add the rest to the bowl
- Start mixing the ingredients
- Add 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- Mix the ingredients well till you see bubbles
- Cover the mixture and let it rest for 5 minutes
Prepare the baking tin
- I have used a 6-inch round tin
- Grease the insides with butter
- Buttering helps with unmoulding the cake
- Dust the greased tin with Maida (all-purpose flour)
- Cover all vacant spots with butter and dust again (check video)
- Take a pan and place a stand inside. Let it pre-heat on low flame for 10-12 minutes
- Pre-heat in an oven at 180 degree C for 10 minutes
Prepare the cake batter
- Check the mixture after 5 minutes
- As you can see, the mixture has foamed well
- Add 1 cup + 1 tbsp. Maida
- 2 tbsp. coco powder
- I have used Dutch coco powder
- Whisk the ingredients well
- Add 3 tbsp. oil to the mixture
- I have used sunflower oil
- 1 tsp Vanilla essence
- Mix again
- Add 1 tbsp. milk if you find the consistency too thick
- Check consistency in video and try to maintain the same
- Transfer the cake batter into the greased tin
- Place the tin inside the pan
- Cover the top and bake for 30-35 minutes
- Or bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 degree C for 30-35 minutes
- Check with a toothpick and decide if the cake is ready
- Let the cake cool before unmoulding
- Unmould the cake and let it cool further
Prepare chocolate flakes and whipped cream
- Take dark chocolate
- Create chocolate flakes using potato-slicer (see video)
- You can also prepare flakes and store in the fridge for 5-6 months
- To make the cream I have used Rich’s whip topping (not paid promo)
- Take 400ml cream in a bowl (2 cups)
- Beat the cream using a hand blender
- If you are working in hot and humid temperature then place the cream on a plate filled with ice
- This cream is already sugared
- But you can add more sugar as per your taste
- Beat on medium speed followed by fast (see video)
- Our thick and luscious icing for the cake is ready

Final cake preparation, icing and decoration
- Cut the cake into three layers
- Take the base layer of cake
- Spread some water on top for moisturisation
- Work on the sides and move on
- You can use sugar syrup too
- Dab the cake and check moisturisation (see video)
- Spread the prepared cream on cake
- Add dark chocolate flakes on top
- Another layer of cream on top
- Place second layer on the base and moisturize again
- Add cream and chocolate flakes, and level with cream again
- Place last layer on top and level the cake well
- Moisturize once again
- Remove the extra icing present on the base
- Start icing the sides first and then the top (check video)
- Use a Palette knife and Cake comb/scraper for finishing
- Use the smallest side, place on the centre and comb the cake
- Comb the sides too (refer video)
- Fill chocolate sauce in a cone and drizzle on top (optional)
- Clean the excess cream and chocolate drizzle on plate
- Make stars on cake and place frosted cherries on top
- Some mint leaves and silver bells
- Add chocolate flakes on one side
- Stick chocolate flakes to the cake base
- Place wafer sticks on chocolate flakes
- Take a slice! The cake is ready to be served 
