Boba Fett and Jango Fett's Slave 1 in The Mandalorian Season 2 Explained

In The Mandalorian Season 2 we see Boba return with the iconic Slave 1, which makes me wonder if he left it buried in the sands of Tatooine, or if he had it orbiting the planet like in legends.
