Maureen Russell restores Gustave Baumann marionettes

craftinamerica.org. Senior Conservator at the Museum Research Division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Maureen Russell lovingly restored all of the Gustave Baumann marionettes, including these two, the German Tourist Lady and the Eagle Dancer. Every single component of these marionettes are so intricate and detailed, from the camera that the German Tourist Lady is holding to the hand painted paper “feathers” on the Eagle Dancer. This segment will premiere on PBS later this year.
