This is how my dog reacted to her mum after 5 months | Chow Chow dog show in Melbourne

Mishka went to meet her mum and grandma after 5 months in a Chow Chow dog show. But the reaction was not what we expected from both Mishka and her mum. (Mishk's mum section is at 11:20). Puppy mothers can remember their offspring. Protecting and caring for their young is instinctive in female domesticated dogs, just as it is for canines in the wild. If a litter of puppies remains with Mama long enough, their memory is imprinted and she will recognize the adult dogs as hers in later years. The father won't know the pups are his but as the mother, he may instinctively help the young in the presumption they might be his. This is usually the same with livestock (not that similar to dogs, I know). Mothers tend to be very caring and will care for the young.
