Youth - Time of Confusion
info: www.domuspatris.net
Topic: In October 1918, the Communist Union of Youth, the Komsomol, was founded, and began working under the leadership and sponsorship of the Party. The Komsomol undertook two tasks: 1) it raised a generation of convinced builders of communism, patriots and defenders of the government and 2) it placed tested individuals into the Party's nomenclature. Nearly every child became a Pioneer, and then a Komsomol member... The most active Komsomol members quickly moved up the career ladder.
Plot: The task of the Komsomol was to raise convinced builders of Communism. Children grew into this system from the first years of their life. Starting of with the Pioneers and then with the Komsomol the state tried to control every moment of their youth development. Komsomol members were send to help in some major constructions in Soviet Russia. By means of propaganda the government tried to inspire the young people to "great deeds for their Homeland". The resemblance to the Nazi youth organizations of the '30s and '40s is evident. Classic propaganda music and posters shall give an impression of the environment in which the young people lived during this time. In spite of their sincere efforts their work was not destined to last. The uneducated use of land in the cultivation of vast areas led to soil erosion and consequently to famine and despair. The once young people who lived those hardships and are now already at the end of their lifes still remember these times with nostalgia and blame the modern development of Russia for the injustice they seem to have received. Today many youth are confused about the right and wrong of things, and dangerous ideas may rise again.
