2018 Pleasureway Plateau XLTS Review | High Quality B Plus Camper Van

Stepping inside the 2018 Pleasureway XLTS is a bit like stepping inside the Tardis from Dr. Who. From the outside, the van is 22 feet 9 inches, the exact same length as its camper van counterpart the Plateau TS and just a few inches wider. But on the inside, it feels much larger. There's loads of aisle way width despite the fact that on one side there's a deep galley counter and on the other a roomy dry bath… that's right a dry bath as in a separate enclosed shower.

The rear lounge is also larger. The sofa converts to a queen sized bed measuring 74 inches by 74 inches. That's a full 4 inches wider than the queen bed on the normal Plateau TS. Adding to the volume of the XLTS is the fact that its walls are perfectly vertical from floor to ceiling. The width at the ceiling is the same as the width at the floor. Contrast this to the nature of the regular Plateau built on the Sprinter chassis from Mercedes where its side walls taper inward at the ceiling. Taking this into account, the width at the ceiling of the XLTS is a good 6 inches wider on each side than on the regular Plateau TS. That's a foot wider and gives the XLTS much larger overhead cabinets.

The XLTS also has a greater interior height compared to the Plateau TS - 5 inches more to be exact. If you're a taller person the XLTS' interior height of 6 feet 8 inches is going to feel a lot more spacious than the Plateau TS' 6 feet 3 inches. All these extra inches add up volumetrically. The XLTS feels a lot bigger inside than the Plateau TS.

The fit and finish on the XLTS is top notch. Beautiful, hand rubbed Corian counter top and full height backsplash look very residential. Even the valance in the galley is Corian. Rich, hand crafted wood cabinets and doors with translucent windows are front and center. Inside the bathroom there's a large shower with glass, curved radius doors and floor to ceiling Corian. An enormous skylight above the shower lets a ton of light in. The bathroom is one of the nicest bathrooms I've seen in any RV, including many Class A's.

Taken all together the XLTS strikes a perfect balance between a roomy interior and a compact form factor. Pleasureway has done a marvelous job with its upgrades and design features. It feels like a step above the already beautiful Plateau TS but still manages to stay in the TS family. Of course, the quality level is evident throughout the XLTS: high quality components, excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. It's the little touches like the Corian shelf above the refrigerator and the Corian trim on the pull-out slat for the bed that make you smile.

With an MSRP of $145,470 USD the XLTS is not cheap. Still, there are RVs that cost much more than and don't deliver anywhere near the quality or luxury of the XLTS. If you're a premium buyer and you want a small, maneuverable and safe RV that's both spacious and luxurious you need to take at look at the Pleasureway Plateau XLTS.
