Indira's priest Brihaspathi's wife Tara(Star) and Chandra(Moon) gave birth to Bhudh(Planet Mercury gender neutral). Shiva turned the whole forest into feminine in this process King Sudyumna turned into women(since then called as Ila).

Bhudh and Ila have birth to many children including King Nahusha.
Nahusha's children are Yati and King Yayati.
Yayati and Devayani(Asuras Priest Sukracharya's daughter) gave birth to Yadu.
Yayati and Sharmishtha(Asuras King Vrishparvara's daughter) gave birth to Puru.
From Yadu Yadava clan was born. From Puru many generations down the line Kuru clan was born.

Family Tree in Mahabharata is vast. The Great mahabharat story that we know today is only a remnant of actual story which happened aroud 7000 years back.
