town for glorious music performed by world-renowned musicians and singers.
The broadcast of this festive concert is a Christmas tradition in Norway, and now is becoming a beloved part of America's
holiday celebration.
Begun in 2004 by the gifted young musicians, Hakon and Mari Samuelsen, the 2011 concert will present traditional holiday
and classical music from the Vang Church in Hamar, Norway. Featured performers include the Samuelsens;
Sylvia Schwartz, one of the most exciting lyric sopranos of her generation; the superb trumpeter, Tine Thing Helseth;
the three-time Grammy-nominated ensemble, The Trondheim Soloists; Collegium Vocale and members of the Oslo Phil-
harmonic. Featured music includes an American Christmas medley, works by Handel, Vivaldi, Morricone, Piazzolla and
traditional Norwegian songs.
The host for A Christmas Concert from Norway is Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, who recounts her childhood
memories of Christmas. Along with all the festive music from the beautiful little church in Hamar, will be outdoor scenes
of wintertime and holiday celebration in this beautiful region of Norway.
