The Model Y design is largely taken from the Model 3 with over 70% of its parts being exactly the same, and the size being about 10% larger. It's the first Tesla Crossover SUV

According to @MacBenTosh on twitter who is a Model X owner that got to sit in a Model Y, the Model Y headroom is “maybe 1-2” less than the X”. Additionally, he said that he is 6’6” and had great legroom and headroom.

The Model Y has a power liftgate hatchback and Tesla says the Model Y will have 66 cu. feet of cargo space.
There is even an option to have 7 seats in the Tesla Model Y.

The design is very simplistic with all options being controlled by either the 2 steering wheel scroll wheels, or the beautiful 15-inch touchscreen mounted in the middle of the dashboard. One notable difference is that the model Y glass roof. It features a much larger panoramic glass roof.

The standard range Model Y will likely start at $40,990 and will get 230 miles of range, a 0-60 of 5.9 seconds, and a top speed of 120 mph.

At $52,990 is the Tesla Model Y All wheel drive, dual motor, long-range, which gets 315 miles of range, a 0-60 of 4.8 seconds, and a top speed of 135mph.

Then, at $60,990 is the Tesla Model Y performance. It gets the same 315 miles of range, a top speed of 145mph, and a 0-60 of 3.5 seconds.

And then optionally, there is the “Performance Upgrade”. Top speed up to 155mph, 21” Uberturbine wheels, the performance brakes, lowered suspension, and aluminum alloy pedals. In turn however, your total range is 280 miles.

For the interior, there are two options. The All Black interior, at no extra cost includes many features.

The White interior includes “three independently folding 2nd-row seats, So for $1000, you can choose any three of the seats to fold down.

For the standard range Model Y releasing in early 2021, we can expect the partial premium interior which includes everything in the premium interior but a slightly downgraded sound system and no LED fog lamps.

Regarding Tesla Model Y Safety, the Model 3 has an overall NHTSA 5 star rating, and Tesla says that the Model Y will be no different and that it’ll be the safest vehicle in its class, getting 5 stars in every category.

The Model Y paint options are the standard white, Solid black, midnight silver metallic, Deep blue metallic, or red multi-coat for $2000 dollars.

The Model Y wheels are the 19” Gemini Wheels, and for $2000 more, you can upgrade to the 20” induction wheels.

Then, if you do the performance upgrade, you’ll receive the 21” uberturbine wheels.

In the Model Y Autopilot is included standard on all Tesla’s now, and that officially “enables your car to steer, accelerate and brake automatically for other vehicles and pedestrians within its lane.

For an extra $7000, you can add what Tesla now calls Full Self Driving. Full self-driving includes navigate on autopilot, which will drive completely autonomously, with supervision on the freeway.

It also includes autopark which parks, and parallel parks for you, smart summon, where the car drives to you like a personal valet in a parking lot.

Superchargers are exclusive to Tesla, and they are the worlds fastest charging stations that cars are able to use, providing an 80% charge in as little as 30 minutes. With their new, even faster chargers coming online, Tesla says that the Model Y can charge up to 158 miles in as little as 15 minutes.

The Tesla Model Y key is an NFC Card and your smartphone. You can control nearly everything in the Tesla app.

The Electric Model Y is indeed fully electric, so it comes with all the benefits of fully electric cars including zero emissions, instant torque, it’s quiet, no transmission, no oil changes, no gas fill-ups.

The Model Y will feature Software updates from Tesla bringing new features periodically over the car’s built-in Wifi or LTE.
