Paquita - Pas de sept bohémiennes (aka Pas de Carlotta)

The Pas de sept bohémiennes from Act 1 of Petipa's revival of "Paquita", reconstructed by Alexei Ratmansky and Doug Fullington for the Bayerisches Staatsballett (2015).

This is perhaps one of the less known dances from "Paquita". It was originally created by Joseph Mazilier (the choreographer of the original 1846 version of "Paquita") especially for Carlotta Grisi, the original Paquita. That is why it is also known as the Pas de Carlotta. It is performed by Paquita and six of her friends for Lucien d'Hervilly and his family.
This version is by Petipa from his 1881 revival of "Paquita" and was notated when performed by Matilda Kschessinskaya, Olga Probrazhenskaya and Anna Pavlova. Before Ratmansky and Fullington's reconstruction, the Pas de sept bohémiennes had not been performed in 100 years.

Cast:
Paquita - Daria Sukhorukova
Lucien d'Hervilly - Matej Urban

The dance numbers are:
1. Entrée
2. Variation of the coryphees
3. Variation of Paquita - this a supplementary polonaise variation composed by Riccardo Drigo for Anna Pavlova ca. 1902 for her performance in "The Pharaoh's Daughter."
4. Coda

Enjoy!
