Makhana aka fox nuts are seeds that come from a plant called Prickly Water Lily that are native to southern and eastern Asia. These nuts are commonly used in Indian households during the times of fasting or ‘vrat’ due to their rich dietary contents. Fox nuts are a good source of proteins, calcium and dietary fibers. Makhane ki kheer is an Indian Pudding made with roasted fox nuts, milk, sugar and dry fruits. It is extremely tasty and delicious and can be a good source of nutrients while you fast.
